Abstract

Hypertension is known as abnormal increases of blood pressure at the arterial. Based on etiology, hypertension devided into primary and secondary hypertension. Primary hypertension is a condition when secondary cause of hypertension is not found. Non-pharmacologic therapy has to be given to all hypertension patients. Intervention of non-pharmacologic therapy interesting to be studied at primary hypertension patient is hypnosis (medical hypnosis). Hypnosis became interested to investigate because it is save, cost minimize and was supported with much study. The objective of this research is to identify hypnosis effect toward the blood pressure decrease at primary hypertension patient who were treated in outpatient service in Banyumas General Hospital. Research design applied Quasi experimental with pre-post control group, using 19 respondents at intervention group and 19 respondents at control group. Sampling technique in this research used simple random sampling. Research instrument of respondent characteristic applied questionnaire; level of anxious is measured by 100mm visual analogue scale; observation of suggestibility level employed Stanford Hypnosability Sugestibility Scale Form C ( SHSS FORM C). Blood pressure before and after intervention is measured by digital tension meter. Data was analyzed by t test and linear regression correlation analysis. Result of this research shows that systolic blood pressure was significant decreased 17.16 mmHg (p=0,001), diastolic blood pressure was significant decreased 10.21 mmHg (p=0,000), between before and after interventions with hypnosis. Age factor and diastolic blood pressure after intervention shows strong and significant relationship (r=0.736, p=0.000). Passive smoking history factor shows a significant relationship with diastolic blood pressure in intervention group (p=0,043). The result of this research is expected to be able in developing nursing care in hospital, and becomes a basic for the next nursing research related to hypnosis in the nursing area.
